Open your server’s control panel and navigate to the Console or Live Server Console tab.
In the console input, type the following command and press Enter:
op <PlayerName>
Replace <PlayerName> with the player's exact Minecraft username (e.g., op Steve).
For usernames containing spaces (rare), wrap the name in quotes:
op "Player Name"
This will immediately grant operator privileges. No server restart is required.
Confirmation: The console usually displays a message such as:
Made <PlayerName> a server operator
Being op’ed gives the player elevated access to powerful commands—including but not limited to:
